Sterzing

Sterzing is the northernmost town of Italy, this is why we call ourselves an alpine town. A typical mountain spot with a little mediterranean touch. Despite the northern alpine climate we love Italian traditions like Aperitivo in the late afternoon, the Italian dishes and the frankness, which is characteristic of historic border areas, where thousands of pilgrims and travellers stopped during their journey from North to South and vice versa. In the heart of this sociable whistle stop, with its gorgeous boulevards and its medieval Palazzi typical for this area, you find our Ida – Historic Town Apartments. At the northern end of the pedestrian walk the „Montecavallo“ cable car starts, bringing you up to the mountains in 10 minutes, ideal for hiking trips of all levels, forest- and sunbathing in the summer, skiing and tobogganing in winter. Cozy huts offer typical food while nobody can get enough of the beautiful panorama.

Your car can take a breath, too, for here we all walk, ride a bike or just take the bus to explore the beautiful pristine valleys around Vipiteno. Additonally, trips by train to our province capital Bolzano or the nearest town Bressanone are well worth it. Take it easy and take your time to breathe in the flowery scent of summer lawns, observe the Christmas lights dancing in the wind with the snowflakes, listen to the coo coo of the pigeons sitting in the windows and the clatter oft he wineglasses on mild summer nights. In our town we say hello with a smile and there is certainly always time for a small talk at the bar.
